Jnana Jyothi Trust completes 9 years of its existence and spreads financial literacy to over 63.94 lakh people

Jnana Jyothi Financial Literacy and Credit Counselling Trust, sponsored by Syndicate Bank, established in October 2010, has completed 9 years of its service in the field of spreading free financial literacy to various segments of people who are deprived of formal financial facilities and who are financially excluded particularly in rural, backward & unbanked areas. The Financial Literacy Centres sponsored by the Trust through their 1,42,037 programmes, have covered more than 63.94 lakh people during the last 9 years.

During the first half of the financial year 2019-20, the Trust has conducted 11334 camps covering 4,85,836 people through its 75 centres spread over 5 States – Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and UT of Lakshadweep. Out of 75 centres, Syndicate Bank has sponsored 55 centres. Karnataka Vikas Grameena Bank, Karnataka Bank, Andhra Pragathi Grameena Bank who joined the Trust as institutional sponsors, have sponsored 10, 5 and 5 centres respectively.

During the period under review, the centres have concentrated on spreading awareness on digital payment systems and literacy to specific target groups as per Reserve Bank of India direction. More thrust was given to – Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyothi Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, Atal Pension Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and Sukanya Samridhi Account – the popular social security schemes of Government of India. During the half year ended 30.9.2019, out of 11,334 campaigns, the Trust has conducted 1,468 Going Digital programmes through UPI and *99# (USSD) and covered 74,197 people, 2,207 programmes for farmers benefiting 79,942 farmers, 1,066 MSME programmes covering 32,627 people, 1,948 programmes for school children covering 1,35,240 students, 1,870 programmes for Self Help Group covering 53,147 members and 938 programmes for Senior Citizens covering 25,500 persons.

The Board of Trustees met on 8th November 2019 to review the performance of the centres and to adopt the Half Yearly Accounts of the Trust for the period ended 30.09.2019. The meeting was chaired by Sri I.N. Raghavendra Bhat, Managing Trustee and attended by the Trustees – Sri H. Suresh Prabhu, Dr. Ramachandra Kamath, Sri N. Jagathpala, Trustees and Sri K. Raviraja, Secretary of the Trust. On going through the performance, the Board has expressed its satisfaction over the activities of the Centres.

Jnana Jyothi Financial Literacy & Credit Counselling Trust spreads financial literacy to more than 96,000 people during September 2019

Jnana Jyothi FLCC Trust, Sponsored by Syndicate Bank, through its 75 Centres, has conducted 1,952 financial literacy programmes covering 96,762 people during the month of September 2019. During the year 2019-20, i.e. from 01.04.2019 to 30.09.2019 (six months) Jnana Jyothi FLCs have conducted 11,352 programmes and 4,85,167 people benefitted. Awareness on cashless economy/digital payment system is one of the important subjects covered in all the financial literacy programmes conducted by the FLCs.

The 45 Financial Literacy Centres of the Trust are located in Karnataka, 6 in Kerala, 10 in Andhra Pradesh, 8 in Uttar Pradesh, 5 in Haryana and 1 in U.T. of Lakshadweep. Karnataka Bank Ltd., Andhra Pragathi Grameena Bank and Karnataka Vikas Grameena Bank are the institutional sponsors of the Trust having 5, 5 and 10 Centres respectively while Syndicate Bank has 55 Centres.

The Annual Report of Jnana Jyothi Financial Literacy & Credit Counselling Trust (Regd.), sponsored by Syndicate Bank for the financial year 2018-19 has been released by Sri Mrutyunjay Mahapatra, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of Syndicate Bank on 28.06.2019 at Trust’s Registered Office, Manipal. He has appreciated the performance and activities of the Trust and wished the Trust good luck.

Adarsh Shiksha Ratna Award to Sri Amit Chaturvedi, Senior Counsellor, Mathura JJFLC on 08.09.2018

Sri Amit Chaturvedi, Senior Counsellor of Jnana Jyothi Financial Literacy Centre, Mathura was felicitated by Adarsh Yuva Samithi, Mathura on the occasion of International Literacy Day on 08.09.2018 at Sanskar Shala, Mathura. The Yuva Samithi felicitated 45 persons comprising social workers and teachers who have rendered yeomen service to the society in Mathura district.

Sri Amit Chaturvedi was selected for the award in recognition of his service to the society in the field of spreading financial literacy to rural people, educating them on various social schemes of Government and encouraging them to avail the facilities. Sri Chaturvedi was felicitated by giving Adarsh Shiksha Ratna Award 2018-19 by Sri Krishnapal Singh, District Inspector of Schools, Mathura. The function was graced by Sri Rajendra Singh, Director of Deendayal Dham, other dignitaries, officials & volunteers of various social organizations in large number.

Visit of Chairman of Syndicate Bank to JJFLCC Trust

Sri Ajay Vipin Nanavati, Chairman of Syndicate Bank, who was in Manipal for attending the EGM of the Bank, visited the Central Secretariat of the Trust on 15.03.2018 along with Sri M Mohan Reddy, General Manager of Syndicate Bank. He showed keen interest to know about the activities of the Trust. Sri M Mohan Reddy, GM, Sri I N Raghavendra Bhat, Managing Trustee and Sri K Raviraja, Secretary of the Trust explained to the Chairman about the Trust, Financial Literacy Centres set up by the Trust, their activities and performance.
