Mr. Chandranaik of Kudineerukatte Lambanihalli was having SB a/c with Canara Bank. He subscribed to Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) during the year 2015 paying `330/- and renewed it in May 2016. Unfortunately in November 2016 he died of heart attack. His wife Mrs. Parvathibai approached Canara Bank and requested to give her the Insurance benefit. However, in spite of submitting all required documents, Bank did not settle her claim.
In August 2018, the Counsellor of Jnana Jyothi FLC, Holalkere conducted a financial literacy awareness session for BA students in the First Grade College, Holalkere. Sri Srinivas, son of late Chandranaik, was one of the students attended the session. After the programme, he approached the Counsellors of the FLC and informed about non-availability of his father’s PMJJBY insurance benefit. After verifying the pass-book that the premium amount was deducted in the year Sri Chandranaik expired, the Counsellors took up the matter with the Lead District Manager of Chitradurga. As per LDM’s direction, the Counsellors arranged to re-submit all relevant documents pertaining to late Chandranaik to Canara Bank branch and requested them to settle the insurance claim so that the nominee Mrs. Parvathibai, w/o of late Chandranaik gets the benefit.
Due to the efforts of the Counsellors of Jnana Jyothi FLC, Holalkere, Smt. Parvathibai, nominee of late Chandranaik received the insurance benefit of `2.00 Lakh in February 2019. Mrs. Parvathibai and Sri Srinivas thanked the Counsellors for their efforts in this regard.
